I don’t like this initiative place that Erin has been staying at, it seems so dangerous for someone so young to be going to but that wasn’t what freaked me out the most. When we walked in all of the demons started freaking out yelling slayer and trying to get at us, but Buffy wasn’t there.

The woman Maggie assumed that I was the slayer but that is impossible, couldn’t tell her why but me being a demon I cant be a slayer…and Buffy cant be dead.
When Erin and I left we headed home, I talked to her about getting back to school and she told me how she met a guy, Oz’s cousin Jordy actually. He’s a pretty cool kid, met him a few times.

After Erin fell asleep during our movie I left and went for a walk when I head “Slayer” being growled from behind me then got jumped and thrown to the ground, in response fire shot out my hands and dusted him. I sat there in shock a moment then hurried off to Buff’s needing answer’s but no one answered so I just went home and sat on the couch all night just thinking.

After dropping Erin off at school the next morning I walked into the library looking for Mr. Giles but found a lady there instead “Where’s Mr. Giles???”
“he doesn’t work here any longer, may I he-”
I cut her off “address…do you have his??”
“I’m sorry miss but that is confidential”
I growled at her annoyed then hurried off back to my car and back home where I sat on my computer and broke into the schools system.
“What’s his name…um.. Robert? No.. Rudolf? No… Rup...Rupert! Ha! Bingo” I said to myself as I typed it in and it all came up.
I wrote it down then hurried off to his house, parked and went to the door knocking.
“Mr. Giles?? Its Ariel Morgan…you know me from the school. I really need to talk to you” I called through the door almost begging.

'Oh good, that makes to of us,' I smiled at Ariel, muttering a brief incantation. The flames in her hands hands turning to ice, and then water, as it melted away with surprising ease.

He just gaped at me, obviously getting ready to get physical with me himself. 'If you don't tell me why you're here and how quickly you're getting out ouf her, I am going to hurt you,' he told me, pushing me against the wall.

'Why don't you read the letter, first. I started to reach for it, but it was Giles that pushed me aginst the wall and pulled the missive out of my inner pocket, instead. 'If you keep that up I'm going to believe you're teasing me" I purred at Rupert.

I stared at my hand in shock, he so did not just do that!
my demon growled at him for it and i looked up to see Giles pushing him against a wall, rose my brow thinking about veruca doing that to me then shook my head trying to concentrate on the matter at hand.

"doesnt look like he is teasing" i mentioned

'Oh, but he is,' I tld her with a smile. 'He vry much is... aren't you, Ripper? I asked.

'Just read the letter' I hissed at him, seeing the half-crumpled misive in one fo Rupert's tightly wound fists. 'Actully, rather conveinet to me, finding the both of you here at once, you know?' I glanced from Rupert's furty to Arield's bewilderment, and back to Rupert now.

"i would have been gone if a paper weight wasnt thrown at me" i mumbled towards Giles

"Now what is this about a letter?" cause if it had nothing t do with me i was leaving and drinking all night long till this nights just a blur

'Sorry,' Rupert apologised. "After the rest of the conversation, I had very strong suspicions about your unique position, Ariel. I really just had to be certain. Since I already suspected your demon heritage, I thought it ws a fairly safe test. Merrick - one of my predecessors used to throw knives or shurikins at his potential Slayers.'

The silence seemed deafening.

'Shall I read the letter to the two of you, word for word, or would you just prefer the gist of it?' I replied, defly removing the crumpled envelope from Giles' nad and insinuating myself further into his flat into the process. 'What I aske dyou in the beginning, Rupert, was perfectly sincere: are you still stupid enough to want to be a watcher, of not?'

'It's not stupid,' Giles snarled.
'I suppose that's my answer then,' I sighed. 'Wouyld you like to heck the bond paper, Travers;' signature? Give the Council a call?' I offered in a freindly way I couldn't have do so well if I were lying.

'Hang on, your lady... Slayer... what have you -- what's your name, anyway? We were never able to quite ascertain that,' I said. I was more than adept at sneaking out of places, myself.

'Believe Ethan when he says that,' Giles deadpanned.

'When Buyffy Summers died, the first priority was to find the new Slayer. And surprise, surprise, she just happened to be right in the vicinity of the Hellmouth. Novice Slayer, needs a a Watcher, for all his foibles, Rupert is an excellent Watcher, even if he does care too much.'

'Quentin Travers wants to you to take your old job back, providing you'll work more diligently with the new Slayer,' Ethan explained. 'And besides, it saves the money of recruiting another one when you're already in the area. What do you say?' I asked.

sweet_ariel: Re:

"Ariel" i replied to his question

i wasnt sure about any of this, i didnt want to be a slayer, i wanted to be the same demon i have been all my life, nothing more

rgiles_watching: Re:

'I say "yes,"' I replied, shoving the letter back at Ethan, hoping it would get him out of my flat that much faster. 'What do you say, Ariel, do you want a proper Watcher?'

Ethan snorted when I said the word "proper." I didn't appreciate that in the least.

sweet_ariel: Re:

I nodded softly

"Yeah..i guess..." i didnt even wanna be a slayer!

letchaosrayne: Re:

'Who would?' I asked, and Rupert simply glared at me.

'But... if you do have to be one -- and I'm afraid you don't have any choice in the matter -- you couldn't ask for a better Watcher, even if no one else was willing to take the job. I think Rupert was a bit gobsmacked that I actually complimented him in front of his new Slayer. I think I'd be willing to say something nice to anyone who replaced that bitch, Buffy Summers.

i didnt actually know what any of this intitled,

"so..what do i have to do then?"

rgiles_watching: Re:

I ignored Ethan's last remark about no one else wanting the job -- I had a very good idea why already. A demon as a Slayer? Unheard of -- heresy. Which is quite probably also why the Council chose a... freelancer... to notify me about it.

'We need to start training, as soon as possible. I see you do have some control over fire from your demon nature, already. That will be an enormous help to you, but I don't want you depending upon it too much. You'll have to learn how to fight, hand to hand, and with weapons.'

I turned to Ethan. 'You've delivered your message. You can go now.'

'But I'm afraid I can't, old man,' Ethan said. 'You may be the new Slayer's Watcher, but you're on Probation from the last stunt you pulled. The Council wanted me to stay around for a bit, report to them on what sort of job you're doing with this Slayer.'

Ethan smiled. I didn't.

'Be seeing you,' Ethan told me, with a wave, as he walked out the door.

sweet_ariel: Re:

I watched him leave then looked to giles

"No, sorry. i dont fight with my hands, wont happen" would screw up my manicure and make my hands all rough and gross

"But i can use a sword very well"

Fri, Feb. 20th, 2004 08:49 pm (UTC)
rgiles_watching: Re:

My ears perked up at the sound of that. 'A sword, eh?' I asked. I wasn't a bad had with a blade myself -- or hadn't been, back in the day. 'But, I'm afraid even if you don't do it out in the field, you're still going to have to learn hand-to-hand combat -- and you're not going to be able to carry a sword all the time.'

'There's a whole range of weapons you can try. Maybe you'll find something else you enjoy, as well,' I suggested.

sweet_ariel: Re:

"I can tell ya now i wont be using my hands, do you know how much that tares up the skin?? makes your hands look that much older that much faster"

i shook my head.

"so, what kinda weapons?" i was interested

rgiles_watching: Re:

I sighed. 'I'm going to have to teach you, at least,' I said. 'You could wear gloves?' I suggested. 'If Ethan gives me a bad evaluation -- and there's no reason for me to think he won't, given the slightest excuse -- you could wind up with someone who's even more demanding, or less reasonable than I am.'

"so, what kinda weapons?"

'Oh, there are many of them,' I told Ariel enthusiastically, 'Quarterstaff, crossbow, axe, shuriken... and of course, the old reliable stake, for killing vampires.'

I sighed "Alright fine"

i better not hurt my skin : (, stupid slayerness.

"so when do we get to use these weapons then?"

'We could start right now, if you'd like,' I suggested. 'Otherwise, how does tomorrow morning sound? I have my good weapons in a trunk, upstairs. The everyday weapons are down here. '

"now is good, but i cant stay all day, have to pick up my sister from the high school when they get out before she wonders off some place"

rgiles_watching: Re:

'No, no, mustn't have that,' I agreed when Ariel spoke about her sister, walking over to the trunk that I hadn't moved from beside my bookcase in quite some time (since I decided that the library wasn't the safest place for any of them).

'This is a crossbow,' I told Ariel. 'It has a harder draw than etiher a simple or a compound bow, which is why it has a footstrap. You drop the bolt in like so...' I demonstrated. 'Put your foot through the strap, and arm it. Then when you sight the target you simply pull the trigger and...'

I'd forgotten that one had a hair trigger. 'Hopefully kill something more dangerous than a table lamp with it,' I concluded.

'If we're going to practise archery, I'll have to find a venue for us to do it. This apartment is clearly not it. I believe there might be a firing range at one of the gun shops just outside town.'

sweet_ariel: Re:

"lemme try?"

I opened the door and faced out it, armed it without using the foot strap and shot hitting the tree dead on, its a far away tree so i did good

"i do it right?" i turned to him

rgiles_watching: Re:

'Um, er, yes... that was correct,' I said. 'However, doing it outside, in public might draw a bit too much attention to oneself. In future, I think we ought to find somewhere a bit more.... secluded if you feel the need to practice.'

'If you don't mind my asking,' I said. 'Just how strong were you before you became the Slayer?'

Sat, Feb. 21st, 2004 02:58 am (UTC)
sweet_ariel: Re:

"well doing it outside didnt break another lamp"

i grinned slightly then handed it back to him

"uh...never thought about it... i flipped a car when i was thirteen..."

i saw the look on his face

"the guy was so asking for it, broke my moms heart so i broke his car" nodded

rgiles_watching: Re:

"well doing it outside didnt break another lamp"

'Granted,' I said, and almost laughed. 'But I would dearly dislike drawing the attention of the authorities to ourselves,' I explained.

"uh...never thought about it... i flipped a car when i was thirteen... the guy was so asking for it, broke my moms heart so i broke his car"

I cleared my throat. 'I see,' I said, nodding meaningfully. 'I'd like to find out precisely how strong you are now, how fast, and so forth, if it can be arranged. But at present, I think it's probably safe to say that you're probably quite a bit stronger than the average Slayer.'

'I'm going to have to do some revising, though. It's been a while since I've run across any references to Kangir demons. You tend to keep to yourselves and stay out of trouble for the most part, I believe, so you don't really attract the attention of the Watchers' Council very often.'
